Watch and Share Cat® Lift Trucks’ Newest Video, Showing Common Forklift Mistakes.

MN Supply wants to remind you that safety should always be the number one priority when conducting material handling operations.  Fostering a culture of “safety first” goes a long way in protecting–not only lift truck operators, but also pedestrian staff and visitors in your facility.

The 8 Most Common Lift Truck Mistakes that Can Cause Safety Hazards Include:

  1. Tip-Overs.  Load stability is important!
  2. Falling Trucks.  Be aware of moving trailers on loading docks–wear safety belt!
  3. Pedestrian Hit by Operator.  Particularly at door openings, intersecting aisles and blind spots!
  4. Driving Too Fast.  Slow and steady wins the race . . . particularly around corners!
  5. Spilling Loads.  Inclines require special attention!  (Common Error: Loaded truck forks uphill and unloaded truck forks downhill.)
  6. Cabin Safety.  Keep your hands and your feet inside compartment–no hands outside back post!
  7. Run-Away Lift Truck.  Be sure to put your parking brake on!
  8. Adding Passengers.  Lifts are made for the operator and load only; no passengers, or riding on “walk-behind” electric walkies!

Remember that forklift operator training is essential to site safety.  It is also the law!  MN Supply offers a selection of flexible OSHA-compliant operator safety training courses to help keep businesses compliant, with mandated OSHA recommendations, which frequently are cited under “General Duty Clause”.  These courses are very interactive and can also be custom designed to meet your industry-, operator- and company-specific needs.

Every course includes a thorough discussion of where your company’s possible risks and fines could be, as well as a thorough pre-check, testing, hands-on, battery and refueling safety segment in every session.

MN Supply offers an array of safety products and systems that help to reduce the likelihood of accidents in the workplace, such as barriers, bollards, safety lighting systems, signage, blue spot lights and flashing beacons, to name just a few.  Proper warehouse layout can also help to improve safety, as well as efficiency inside your facility.

Contact MN Supplytoday to schedule a customized training class, or to receive more information on safety products for your operation.
